Fisherman Woodcut

This image is from a story panel early on in the first act of the Fishbone story.  He’s just thrown his hook in the water and is now settling back for a relaxing smoke.  Lots of new challenges with different textures and surfaces.  The water not being the least of them.  I’m finding that using three values (dark, medium, and light instead of just dark and light) changes the work considerably.

The water looks stupendous! I’m really digging the overall texture

  • Thanks Matt!

I’m hoping these translate well into an interior shot soon. I tried starting one a couple of weeks ago but with the interior space came a whole new set of issues I wasn’t ready to take on.

Your work always amazes me. And I’m impressed that you have learned so much on your own just by trial and error. Critique: it’s perfect!

  • I diggit. I like the subtle warm colors too. The smoke and the water are really working.

  • Thanks Ginny! I’ll have to email you the story. I hope I get a chance to start making some pictures move soon but for now it’s more trial and error.
