Dad I love these! Can you please make a giant series of them and make them a fun Christmas present for us girls? That would make my Christmas spectacular. :)

Thanks for the words of encouragement Blair! There is no way I could have moved this project forward without the support of the university. Without it Brother Thomas would still be a lonely sculpture and a handful of story sketches. I can't wait until he's actually a film!

Steve,

I spent some time this morning looking at your work. It is outstanding. I love the Br. Thomas storyboards. The images are wonderful. You have done some great work on it this summer and fall.

I also had a chance to view your other work. It is wonderfully creative and fun. Many of the images made me laugh. Great work.

You are so very gifted as an artist (and as a teacher I might add). I am so grateful for your good work with our Huntington University students.

Thanks for sharing your art and gifts with me, our students and many others.

My friend Rich Schiller is helping figure things out. Rich was a huge influence on me when I was modelmaking back when we lived in Oak Park. At some point I'll be heading to his new studio in Valparaiso to make the mold and cast him. Can't wait.

Thanks Luke. I made a negative textured plate by pressing sculpy into burlap. From there I rolled out sheets of clay like cloth, pressed them into the plates for a positive texture. Then basically assembled the clay on top of the figure as if I was sewing clothes onto a manikin. I'm very pleased with the results. I think the life-sized burlap texture plays well on the miniature scaled makette. I'm currently in the process of filling in the voids in preparation for the mold. More on that later.

Woohoo! I really love how this part of the story starts to open up with the deeper camera lenses and such. I especially love that last shot where he follows the dragonfly into the woods!
