Rich was a huge influence on me when I was modelmaking back when we lived in Oak Park. At some point I'll be heading to his new studio in Valparaiso to make the mold and cast him. I made a negative textured plate by pressing sculpy into burlap. From there I rolled out sheets of clay like cloth, pressed them into the plates for a positive texture. Then basically assembled the clay on top of the figure as if I was sewing clothes onto a manikin. I'm very pleased with the results. I think the life-sized burlap texture plays well on the miniature scaled makette. I'm currently in the process of filling in the voids in preparation for the mold. More on that later. Thanks Luke.
